National Manager – Scribo (Ministry-Funded Online Writing Tool)

Selena Hinchco is EDconnect’s National Manager of the Ministry-funded online writing tool (Scribo) being rolled out across New Zealand. She leads the national implementation strategy and the team responsible for delivering high-quality professional learning and support to schools, ensuring strong uptake, fidelity of delivery, and measurable impact on writing achievement.
A highly respected education consultant, project manager, and evaluator, Selena brings more than 20 years’ experience leading large-scale Ministry of Education contracts, capability-building programmes, and school improvement initiatives both nationally and internationally. She combines deep curriculum expertise with disciplined project governance, ensuring initiatives are aligned, accountable, and evidence-based.
Selena has managed multiple national and regional contracts, including:
- MoE Structured Literacy Years 0–8 Contract (Project Manager)
- SELO Contracts (Project Manager & Evaluation Lead)
- Regional and National RAPLD Contracts
- Direct-to-Schools PLD Projects
Her project leadership includes:
- Leading multi-region delivery teams across literacy, assessment, curriculum, and leadership
- Designing and implementing robust, data-driven evaluation frameworks
- Identifying programme strengths, mitigating risks, and guiding evidence-informed next steps
- Ensuring milestones, reporting, budgets, and compliance requirements are consistently met
Selena holds a Master of Education (First Class Honours), with a focus on strengthening student assessment capability, and has completed postgraduate study in the Science of Learning for Effective Teaching with Dr Nathaniel Swain. Her work is firmly grounded in research-informed practice and spans Structured Literacy, Assessment for Learning, Explicit Teaching, Writing, curriculum design, LPF/PaCT, and leadership development.
From classroom practice to system-level implementation, Selena brings clarity, credibility, and execution discipline to every initiative she leads, ensuring that national programmes translate into real impact for teachers and learners.
